A charter school in Newark has opened up a new school that is owned by the same charter school that opened in New York City.JEFFERSON PARKS Charter school in New Jersey is located at 1720 East St. Luke’s, the Newark Public School System announced on its website.JPSS Superintendent Mark Schatz announced the new school on Monday.
It is a joint venture between Newark Public Schools, the state’s public charter schools, and a private, non-profit entity called Newark Charter Schools.
Schatz said the charter school is located just south of the Newark Transit Center and is expected to open this fall.JPs Charter Schools is run by the Newark Charter School Network, a nonprofit that has been a partner in charter schools across the country.
It operates two charter schools in Newark and another charter school on Long Island.
