Riversdale High School is returning to the classroom for the first time since 2009, a year after a suicide.
The school has had students on lockdown since the incident, which also left a 17-year-old student dead.
The lockdown was lifted at 2 p.m.
Monday, but the district says it’s still a “risk environment.”
Riversdale Superintendent Ryan Stegman told The Hill that the district is “doing a lot of things” to make sure students are safe.
Stegmans said that students have been offered mental health and emotional support, and that staff members have been in touch with students who have been impacted by the event.
Riversdale was not on lockdown before the incident.
It reopened Tuesday after a short lockdown, but staff members were asked to remain inside.
The district is not releasing details about the suicide.

The student who killed himself was not a student at the school.
(WJLA)Stegman said that after an evaluation of the district, he determined that “a lot of the students, including a lot who have struggled and been hurt by what happened at Riversdale School, were resilient and resilient and have not been able to fully recover from this event.”
The district says that it’s been able in part by offering mental health services to students.
Riversdadys superintendent said that a majority of the school’s staff has been in contact with students, and the district will be providing those services to all students, no matter their age.

The superintendent also said that counselors are available to help students through the week, but he says the district has not yet decided whether to offer them that support.
